What is World Play Day?
What is World Play Day? One might ask. Well, we are here to break it down for you. This special day was created by the International Toy Library Association (ITLA). An international association that governs libraries for toys all around the world. Yes, you heard that right. Libraries for toys! The library is a great place that provides resources for all things related to play, such as games and fun activities. Not just toys!
The idea of World Play Day came to life in 2001 after it was first suggested in 1999 at the 8th ITLA Conference. Soon, 28th May was chosen as the day to commemorate the worldly event. The main purpose of this distinct day is to connect people from different generations through play. It is also an opportunity for children and parents to connect with the community rather than just their own family members.
At Montessori
On the 27th March 2023, Montessori organised its very own World Play Day. It was a day filled with fun activities and games. The activities we prepared were sensory buffet, bicycle maze, ice age excavation and many more! Besides that, we even invited 2 NGOs (Asia Community Service – ACS and BOLD for Special Needs Children) to join us on this eventful day for some added fun. All in all, this is a great opportunity for everyone to connect and spend quality time together.
